Exterior of the Topanga Residence, a modern take on harmonizing architecture and landscape together by Los Angeles based Michel Architects

Topanga Residence

The Topanga Residence features a contemporary family retreat on a seven-acre site in Topanga Canyon, California, nestled within the rugged beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains. Comprising a main residence, guest house, and detached accessory structures, the project blends timeless design with a deep respect for the natural environment.

The architecture and landscape design are crafted to harmonize with the site’s topography, integrating indoor and outdoor living spaces to enhance the experience of the surrounding canyon views. Michel Architects provided comprehensive services, including land use planning, agency coordination, architectural design, and landscape design, resulting in a residence that embodies design with understated elegance and environmental sensitivity.
